WAUKESHA – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County tennis team competed at the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference Tennis Tournament on Friday and Saturday at UW-Waukesha.
The Marauders women finished in a tie for fourth and the men’s team tied for sixth in the team standings.
UW-Rock County won the men’s team title and UW-Washington County grabbed the women’s championship.
Ashley Pongratz (No. 3 singles) and Kim Palmer (No. 4 singles) finished second for UW-Marshfield/Wood County.
The women’s team also got points from Kerenna Kohlbeck at No. 2 singles, and from the No. 1 doubles team of Breann Haubert and Kohlbeck, who won their first matches before dropping their second.
Jared Ystad won a pair of matches at No. 4 singles to give the Marauders men two points. UW-M/WC also gained points from Rob Belter at No. 5 singles, Joe Gouin and Brock Baumann at No. 1 doubles, and Ystad and Mike LaFave at No. 2 doubles.
Final Men’s Standings: 1. Rock County 16; 2. Fond du Lac 11; 3. Waukesha 9; 4. Sheboygan and Manitowoc 7; 6. Marshfield/Wood County and Washington County 5; 8. Fox Valley and Baraboo 3.
Final Women’s Standings: 1. Washington County 11; 2. Baraboo 10; 3. Sheboygan 8; 4. Marshfield/Wood County and Fox Valley 6; 6. Waukesha and Fond du Lac 1; 8. Rock County and Manitowoc 0.
