MEDFORD – The Marshfield girls soccer team won its fourth-straight game, pounding Medford 7-0 in a nonconference game Friday.

Maddie Smith got the scoring started for the Tigers at the 10-minute mark, and Courtney Thumann followed nine minutes later to put Marshfield up 2-0.

The Tigers made 3-0 before halftime when a Medford defender inadvertently kicked a ball into her own goal trying to clear a shot.

Taylor Asplin, Thumann, Alyssa Brenner and Amy Voight scored in the second half as the Tigers won going away.

Brenner’s goal came on a corner kick, the second straight day she scored from a corner kick.

Naomi Crump had three saves in goal for the Tigers, including a spectacular save to thwart a Medford breakaway attempt.

“That was probably one of the nicest goalie saves of the year as she timed her slide ot make the save,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said.

The Tigers play at the Waupaca Invitational on Saturday.
