SPENCER – The Spencer softball team extended its win streak to nine games after sweeping a doubleheader from Prentice 13-9 and 15-0 on Saturday.
Nicole Bruss won both games on the mound for Spencer, striking out nine in the first game and four in the second. She also was 5-for-8 at the plate with a pair of triples and four RBIs.
Spencer used a six-run first inning to take an early lead only to see Prentice rebound and tie the game at 6-6 in the fourth. Spencer trailed 13-9 before scoring five times in the sixth to pull out the victory.
Paige Johnson was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored.
In the second game Danica Johnson was 2-for-2 with four runs scored and Paige Johnson had a single, a double and five RBIs to lead the Rockets’ offense.
Spencer returns to Cloverbelt Conference East Division action with four road games next week as it tries to stay on top of the standings. The Rockets play at Colby on Monday, a doubleheader at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Tuesday and at Neillsville on Thursday.
