STEVENS POINT – Keron Howlett, Dan Kniech and Jeremy Robinson won individual conference titles for the Marshfield boys track and field team on Tuesday at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet at Stevens Point Area Senior High.
Howlett, a freshman, won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 5 inches, two inches better than Wausau West senior Ty Fischer.
Robinson, a junior, won the triple jump with a jump of 43-2, one foot better than Mark McCormick of Wausau East, and also took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.40 seconds. Robinson also took second in the 200 in a time of 22.66.
Kniech, a senior, won the 300 hurdles in 40.13, and took second in the 110 hurdles in 15.38 seconds, 0.32 seconds behind Vince Biegel of Wisconsin Rapids.
Riley Gebelein took second in the 100 meters in 11.29 seconds, just behind champion Corey Griffin of D.C. Everest (11.16).
The Tigers placed third in the team standings with 106 points. D.C. Everest won the championship with 181.5 points, with Stevens Point second with 138 points.
The Marshfield girls placed sixth with 71 pts. Stevens Point won the team title with 141.5 points, 1.5 points ahead of runner-up D.C. Everest.
The Tigers girls had one conference champion, the 800-meter relay. The team of Alexa Fritsch, Gabby Myrie, Nikki Youngblood and Bisola Omoba won the race in 1:49.81.
Omoba also earned all-conference honors by placing third in the 100 and 200 meters.
Yasmeena Ougayour took second place in the discus and the 400-meter relay team of Fritsch, Miranda Snortheim, Youngblood and Gabby Myrie placed third for the Tigers.
