NEILLSVILLE – The Spencer softball team saw its 12-game winning streak snapped, losing 12-2 to Neillsville on Thursday in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Neillsville High School.
The Rockets fall into a tie for first place with Greenwood in the Cloverbelt East standings.
Neillsville pitchers Courtney Poeschel and Ashley Friemoth combined to scatter eight hits and did not walk a batter in the win.
Dessa Karl was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, and Kendie Pfeiffer and Jenny Lindner each had two hits for the Warriors (9-5, 9-4 Cloverbelt East). Lindner scored three times in the game.
Nicole Bruss took the loss for Spencer (13-2, 11-2 Cloverbelt East), giving up all 12 runs, six earned, with six walks and two strikeouts.
Danica Johnson was 3-for-3 and Courtney Schulz was 2-for-2 for Spencer, which plays a nonconference game at Pittsville on Friday.
