GREENWOOD – Tyler Kolstad hit 10 of 16 shots, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, and finished with 25 points to lead the Spencer boys basketball team to a 52-44 win over Greenwood on Friday night.
The win keeps the Rockets in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division title chase. With only three conference games remaining, Spencer improves to 11-2 (12-3 overall) and is one game behind first-place Marshfield Columbus Catholic, which beat Owen-Withee 52-37 on Saturday. Greenwood falls to 3-14 and 2-10 in the Cloverbelt East.
Spencer led 18-11 after one quarter and 32-22 at halftime, then held off the Indians the rest of the way.
Steve Gilboy added 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Bryan Brodziski scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Rockets, who jump back in action Monday for a nonconference game at Edgar.
Jeffrey Rachu, Brandon Herr and Hayden Hinker all had 10 points for Greenwood.
