MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chaparrals baseball team improved to 2-0 on the young season with an impressive 15-7 win over the Norwalk Knights on Friday night at Jack Hackman Field.
The Chaparrals jumped on Norwalk with six runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 6-2 lead. They pushed the lead to 10-2 with three more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.
Marshfield pounded out 15 hits, led by Jon Berg, who went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Chuck Brehm and Cole Tysver each added a pair of hits for the Chaparrals.
Ryan Metz earned the win on the mound for Marshfield, striking out three in five innings.
The Chaparrals play a doubleheader Sunday at Sparta and return home to play Plover at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
