The WIAA State Softball Tournament concluded Saturday with championship games in four divsions at Goodman Field on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison.
Oakfield kicked off the day with an 8-3 win over Chippewa Falls McDonell to claim the Division 4 championship. It is the Oaks’ second straight Division 4 title and third overall state crown (1997, Division 3).
In Division 3, Poynette won its third state title (1998, 2005) by beating Stevens Point Pacelli 4-0 in the championship game.
Union Grove knocked off previously unbeated Baldwin-Woodville 1-0 in the Division 2 title game, claiming its second state championship (1997). Baldwin-Woodville was making its first state tournament appearance.
Stevens Point won its seventh state championship in 11 seasons, beating Wilmot 2-1 the Division 1 championship game. Stevens Point won four straight titles from 2001-04 and back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009.
