The Marshfield Chaparrals baseball team saw its five-game win streak snapped as it lost a pair of games over the weekend.
Marshfield lost 7-5 to Menomonie on Friday and 2-1 to Eau Claire on Saturday in a pair of road games.
On Friday, Marshfield led 5-3 after a four-run fifth inning, but Menomonie came back, scoring single runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings to eke out the victory.
Sam Schwanebeck was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Eric Pritzl was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored for the Chaparrals.
Eau Claire scored single runs in the eighth and ninth innings of Saturday’s game to ruin a beautifully pitched game by Marshfield.
Jake Long pitched five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, while striking out four.
Mason Nesbitt threw two scoreless innings and Ryan Hiller hit a solo home run in the sixth to give the Chaps a 1-0 lead.
Nesbitt allowed a run in the eighth and couldn’t get out of the ninth as the Cavaliers scored the game winner against Ryan Metz, the losing pitcher in both games.
The Chaparrals (8-3) host Everest on Wednesday and Taylor County on Friday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
