MARSHFIELD – Cain Trunkel tossed a seven-inning no-hitter to lead the Marshfield Chaparrals baseball team to a 12-0 whitewashing of Abbotsford on Wednesday night at Jack Hackman Field.
Trunkel struck out eight and walked three to shut down the Merchants (6-3).
Justin Rayburn led the Chaparrals (10-4) offense, going 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs. Casey Krohn added two hits and two runs scored, Cole Tysver had two hits and an RBI and Eric Pritzl had a double and scored twice for Marshfield.
Marshfield jumped on Abbotsford quickly, scoring two runs in the first inning and five more in the second. Trunkel did the rest, dominating the Merchants.
The Chaps finished off the win with five more runs in the fifth inning.
Marshfield plays at Plover on Thursday night.
