STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield High School boys swimming team had two third-place finishes and six fourth-place finishes Saturday at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Swim Meet at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The eight strong finishes helped the Tigers to a third-place team finish (360 points). Wausau East narrowly defeated Stevens Point for the championship, 459-457.5.
Ade Dillon was third in the 100-yard butterfly (58.49 seconds) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (24.34), and Thomas Stevning-Roe had the Tigers’ other third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:02.73).
Stevning-Roe, Dillon, Phil Kubica and Tate Ellis teammed for Marshfield’s best relay finish, taking fourth in the 200 IM relay with a time of 1:53.00.
Peder Kling had two fourth-place finishes. The senior was fourth in the 200 IM in 2:17.81 and the 100 freestyle (54.30).
Aaron Scheets had two top-five finishes, taking fourth in the 500 freestyle (5;34.39) and fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:03.22).
Kubica had the Tigers’ other fourth-place finish, swimming the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.09.
Marshfield turns its attention to the WIAA sectionals next Saturday at Hudson.
