The Marshfield freshman and sophomore football teams both posted wins on Thursday.
The Tigers freshmen beat Stevens Point P.J. Jacobs 27-0, while the Marshfield sophomores knocked off Wausau West 28-16.
For the Marshfield freshmen, Caleb Alexander rushed nine times for 157 yards, scoring touchdowns on runs of 47, 31 and 57 yards. Derek Coffren was 7 of 9 passing for 95 yards.
Mitch Zillman had three interceptions, forced a fumble and was the Tigers’ leading tackler. Devan Wrege, Mason Tysver and Adrian Garcia each added an interception.
The Marshfield sophomore team improved to 2-0 behind touchdown runs of 34, 13 and 41 yards by Keiron Howlett. Jeff Allison also hauled in a 23-yard touchdown pass from Colton Zahradka and Brad Krueger added four extra points for the Tigers.
Mitch Ott and Zach Meissner each had 13 tackles, Craig Serchen had three quarterback sacks and Jordan Watkins recovered a fumble for Marshfield.
The sophomore team will play Oshkosh North at Beell Stadium on Sept. 1 at 5:30 p.m. The freshman team hosts Wausau West at Marshfield High School at 4:30 p.m.
