MARSHFIELD – Marshfield found itself in a tight nonconference volleyball match with Antigo on Monday night and came out on top each time.

The Tigers edged Antigo by two points in each game, 25-23, 27-25, 32-30, to pull out the close 3-0 sweep at Marshfield High School.

“This is a big win for us tonight because we were forced to come from behind in two of the sets and win,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “Antigo is a scrappy team, and we had to work really hard for every point, but we never gave up and I am proud of the girls for that.”

Tiffany Stargardt and Mikala Sebastian each had 11 kills, Darian Molter totaled 30 digs and Mary Wolff had 23 assists for Marshfield, which improves to 17-5 overall.

The Tigers return to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at Stevens Point and will take part in the first WVC Meet of the season Saturday at Merrill.
