SPENCER – Auburndale senior Danica Harrison pulled away for a 26-second victory Tuesday at the Auburndale Cross Country Invitational at Frey Field in Spencer.
Harrison won her eighth race of the season, finishing in 15:33.5. Jessi Krause of Edgar was second, edging Pittsville’s Tori Palmer by one-half second. Abby Bauer ended up fifth for the Apaches.
Edgar won the title with 56 points. Phillips was second with 78 and Auburndale took third with 890. Marshfield Columbus Catholic finished eighth, Spencer was ninth and Stratford took 10th.
Claire Pinter led Columbus, taking ninth in 16:52.1. Spencer’s top runner was Sammy Fuehrer, who was 14th. Rachel Adank led Stratford, taking 43rd.
Luke Haas led the Auburndale boys, finishing second in 17:13.8, 15 seconds behind Andrew Studinski of Marathon.
David Haas finished fifth for the Apaches, who took third behind Chequamegon and Marathon.
Columbus Catholic took seventh, Spencer was ninth and Stratford finished 13th.
Jeremy Binder led the Dons, taking 17th in 18:49.8. Spencer’s Rudy Nieman took 33rd and Danny Schubert finished 34th. Stratford was led by Mark Wenzel, who was 70th.
“Both teams gave strong performances and are putting themselves in great shape for the end of the season races,” Auburndale coach Jim Johnson said.
