MANITOWOC – A bid for a repeat trip to the WIAA State Girls Tennis Tournament is on hold for Marshfield Columbus Catholic junior Elizabeth Manlick on Wednesday at the Division 2 sectional at Manitowoc.
Manlick lost her first match to drop her record to 17-5.
It is possible Manlick, who went undefeated in the Great Northern Conference season at No. 1 singles, could gain an additional qualifier spot in the WIAA tournament, which will be held Oct. 13-15 at the University of Wisconsin’s Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison. Those bids should be announced Friday.
The Dons’ No. 1 doubles team of Abby Gotz and Nikki Hertel also lost their first match at the sectional to end their season with a 14-8 mark.
Scores were not provided for either match.
