Auburndale volleyball takes second at Tomahawk Invitational

TOMAHAWK – The Auburndale volleyball team went 4-1 to finish in second place at the Tomahawk Invitational on Saturday.

The Apaches lost to Tomahawk 2-0 and swept Reedsville, Chippewa Falls McDonell, Pulaski and Crandon to finish the day in second.

Kari Willfahrt had 43 kills, Nicole Nikolay added 38 and Kimberly Kundinger had 15 to lead Auburndale offensively. Setter Kendra Kundinger had a team-high 92 assists in the five matches.

On defense, six Apaches had 20 or more digs, led by Kendra Kundinger’s 31 and Willfahrt’s 29.

Tomahawk went 5-0 to win the championship.

Auburndale will play at Marathon on Tuesday. The Apaches can grab a share of the Marawood Conference South Division title with a victory.
