CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Spencer volleyball team lost a tough five-set match to Chippewa Falls McDonell in the second-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference crossovers on Tuesday night at McDonell High School.
McDonell won 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-13.
“It was a fun match to be a part of,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “The whole match had a playoff feel to it. I’m hoping that kind of match makes us even stronger with regionals starting next Tuesday.”
Courtney Schulz had 25 kills and four blocks to lead the Rockets. Kyleigh Hebert had a team-high 42 assists, Dani Johnson had 35 digs and Tara Matter added 10 kills for Spencer.
Spencer hosts Cadott in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
