Marshfield, fresh off a 6-1 record and second-place finish in the inaugural season of the Valley Football Association, was well represented on the VFA South Division All-Conference Football Team, which was voted on by the conference coaches.
Marshfield senior quarterback Elliot Ashbeck was named the VFA South Offensive Player of the Year while also earning Offensive Back of the Year and a unanimous first-team selection at quarterback.
Ashbeck completed 85 of 159 passes for 1,295 yards and 11 touchdowns, while throwing only five interceptions.
Also earning top awards for Marshfield were seniors Austin Littmann and Trevor Peterson.
Littmann was a unanimous first-team pick at wide receiver and was named the VFA South Wide Receiver/Tight End of the Year. Littmann was fourth in the conference with 28 catches and third in receiving yards with 485 yards. He also caught four touchdown passes.
Peterson was a unanimous first-team selection at defensive end and was picked as the conference Defensive Lineman of the Year. Peterson was a catalyst on the Tigers’ defense all season, helping Marshfield led the conference in points allowed, giving up 9.3 points per game. Peterson had four returns for touchdowns.
Other unanimous first-team picks for Marshfield were center Brandon Suchomel, tackle Cody Schmitt, Riley Gebelein at running back and return specialist, inside linebacker Justin Sternweis and kicker Gus Utech. Defensive lineman Bowdi Krall, inside linebacker Ross Zillman and safety Brandon Baltus were also named to the first team.
Gebelein was fourth in rushing with 747 yards and scored a league-high 16 touchdowns rushing and another on a punt return. Geblein led the conference in punt returns, averaging 16.9 yards per return.
Utecht made 35 of 38 extra points and 7 of 12 field goals during the conference season.
Guard Nick Thornton, outside linebacker Matt Scheel and Utech at punter were named to the second team for the Tigers.
Honorable mention picks for Marshfield were tackle Stuart Rhodes, tight end Jordan Schecklman, wide receivers Justin Litwatis and Brandon Brown, fullback Caleb Cline, defensive lineman Alex Arndt and cornerback Zach Schwanz.
