Stratford and Auburndale are well represented on the 2011 All-Marawood Conference Football Team, which was voted on by the conference coaches.
Auburndale quarterback Blake Anderson, a sophomore, and junior end Austin Hawkins were named to the first team offense, along with flanker/slot back Isaac Castellano.
Stratford had three first-team picks, all of which are underclassemen. Junior running back Travis Urlaub, sophomore end/outside linebacker Davis Drews and junior defensive back Nolan Bargender.
Anderson led the Marawood with 1,477 yards passing and tied Teague Shoup of Rib Lake/Prentice, a second-team selection, with 16 touchdown passes. Castellano was second with 35 catches, fifth in yards with 479 and tied for fifth with five touchdown receptions, while Hawkins was third in receptions with 33, second in yards with 563 and first in touchdown catches with 10.
Urlaub led the Marawood in rushing yards with 992 and was second with 15 touchdowns.
Conference champion Edgar had 10 first-team selections, including Back of the Year Kyle Schueller, who was a unaminous first-team pick at running back and defensive back.
Schueller finished third in rushing yards with 847 and had a conference-high 22 rushing touchdowns and 35 touchdowns in all. He also had three kick returns, three punt returns, four receptions and three interception returns for touchdowns.
Stratford senior end Derek Austin, junior Austin Hoffmann at both offensive line and inside linebacker, senior Logan Greismer at offensive line, sophomore flanker/slot back Eli Temanson, and senior defensive lineman Andrew Murdaugh were chosen to the second team for the Tigers, who finished 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the Marawood this season.
Auburndale defensive lineman Tony Altmann was the Apaches’ lone second-team pick.
Honorable mention choices for Stratford were offensive lineman Troy Mengel, defensive end Dondrick Tackes, linebacker Hunter Kauffman and running back Greg Belter.
Auburndale linebacker Dom Lewis and running back Canyon Weiler were also honorable mention choices.
Hawk Sabin of Pittsville was named Lineman of the Year and Edgar coach Jerry Sinz was chosen as Coach of the Year.
