CHIPPEWA FALLS – With a limited number of athletes able to attend the meet, the Marshfield boys swim team held its own, finishing fifth Saturday at the Chippewa Falls Invitational.
The Tigers had one second and three thirds at the meet to total 140 points, just three points behind Holmen/Onalaska for fourth and nine in back of third-place River Falls.
Aaron Scheets was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.21 seconds for the Tigers’ top finish.
Scheets also took third with a new personal best time of 59.53 seconds in the 100 buttefly, Michael Josephson took third in the 100 freestyle (54.28) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Jake Akin, Scheets, Alex Shulman and Josephson also finished third in 3:39.63.
Marshfield added three top-10 finishes in the 50 freestyle. Akin was fifth (24.32), Josephson took seventh (24.71) and Shulman finished ninth (25.13).
“We had a great day and look forward to next week Thursday at D.C. Everest and Saturday at the Hodag Relay meet,” Marshfield coach Faye Egger said.
