AUBURNDALE – Emma Steines poured in 22 points and Nicole Nikolay added 15 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to lead the Auburndale girls basketball team to a 64-29 rout of Iola-Scandinavia in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.
Steines made 10 of 12 shots from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range, to lead the Apaches (2-1).
Auburndale jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter and outscored the Thunderbirds 40-13 over the middle two quarters to win going away.
Becky Willfahrt and Melanie Brandl each added seven points for the Apaches.
Auburndale is off until next Tuesday when it plays its Marawood Conference opener at Edgar.
