STRATFORD – Derek Austin scored 17 points and Troy Mengel added 10 points and five rebounds to lead the Stratford boys basketball team to a 43-33 win over Marathon in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday night at Stratford High School.
The Tigers outscored Marathon 17-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
Travis Urlaub added nine points and a team-high six rebounds for Stratford, which improves to 4-1 and 2-0 in the Marawood South.
Collin Seubert scored 10 points and Vince Dinkel had eight points and nine rebounds to top Marathon (2-2, 1-1 Marawood South).
Stratford pulled ahead 20-15 at halftime with a 14-9 advantage in the second quarter. Marathon closed the gap to 26-23 heading into the fourth before the Tigers closed out the victory.
Stratford is off until next Thursday when it plays at Northland Lutheran.
