Spencer girls basketball team crushes Loyal

LOYAL – Spencer jumped out to a 13-1 lead after the first quarter and rolled to a 62-17 victory over Loyal in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Friday night at Loyal High School.

Krystal Weier scored 17 points, Tara Matter had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Kyleigh Hebert added 12 points for the Rockets.

Spencer (1-1 overall and Cloverbelt East) cruised out to a 31-8 lead by halftime and continued the dominance in the second half, outscoring the Greyhounds (1-3, 0-2 Cloverbelt East) 31-9.

Spencer made26 of 57 shots from the field and was 8 of 12 from the free throw line in the win. The Rockets also held a 42-15 advantage on the boards.

The Rockets host Augusta next Thursday.
