Marshfield JV boys basketball team loses by one at Merrill

MERRILL – The Marshfield JV boys basketball team couldn’t hold on to a fourth-quarter lead and fell to Merrill 41-40 in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Friday at Merrill High School.

Marshfield led 35-27 heading into the fourth quarter but was outscored 14-5 by the Bluejays and fall to 0-2 on the season.

Alex Strege had 18 points on 8 of 13 shooting and eight rebounds, and Craig Sercehn scored 12 points to lead the Tigers.

Marshfield plays at Eau Claire North on Tuesday.
