MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s and men’s basketball teams swept UW-Barron County with a pair of victories Monday night at the Marauder Gym.
The UW-M/WC women beat the Chargers 70-63 and the men prevailed 68-58.
In the women’s game, Paige Albrecht scored 24 points and had six steals, Ashley Pongratz scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Karlee Rosentreter added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Marauders. Marissa Draxler and Bailey Kleiforth each chipped in with four assists.
“The girls are looking great again,” Marshfield coach Rhonda Keding said. “They started getting their transition game going again tonight. I love how none of these girls are selfish. They know what the next one can do.”
The Marauders improve to 10-1 and will play at undefeated UW-Marathon County in Wausau on Wednesday.
Jake Scheppler scored 22 points to lead the Marauders men to the victory.
Leo Braun scored 14 points, Brandon Herr added 13 points and Jesse Bejeck had 12 points and 12 rebounds for UW-Marshfield/Wood County (6-3).
The Marauders men also play at UW-Marathon County on Wednesday.
