AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 58-36 nonconference win over Nekoosa on Monday night at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches led 33-27 at halftime, then blew the game open with a 13-1 advantage in the third quarter.
Markus Kleifgen continued his strong start to the season for Auburndale with 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals before fouling out late. Kleifgen hit 7 of 11 shots from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range.
Austin Hawkins added 14 points and six rebounds, and Cale Weiler had 10 points and four assists for the Apaches.
Auburndale returns to Marawood Conference South Division action at home Thursday against Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
