MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point scored twice early and Marshfield never recovered as the Panthers won a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game 5-2 on Tuesday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Arena.
Jake Jaworski and Wyatt Dalsbo scored in the first period and Drew Soik added a goal 4:30 into the second to put SPASH up 3-0.
Cole Irish tallied an unassisted goal at the 7:09 mark of the second period, but the Panthers blew the game wide open two goals in the third. Max Seiter scored just 48 seconds into the period and Soik scored again at the 11:06 mark to give the Panthers a commanding 5-1 lead.
Austin Littmann rounded out the scoring with a goal for Marshfield with 1:41 left.
Mac Alboreo had 30 saves in goal for Marshfield, which falls to 4-4 and 0-3 in the WVC.
Stevens Point goalie Jake Krutza had 16 saves as the Panthers improve to 4-3-1 and 1-2 in the Valley.
Marshfield hosts its annual holiday tournament next week with games against Antigo on Tuesday, Altoona on Wednesday and Chippewa Falls McDonell on Thursday at the Marshfield Ice Arena.
