AUBURNDALE – Austin Hawkins and Blake Anderson each scored 13 points to lead the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 59-29 whitewashing of Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday night at Auburndale High School.
With the victory, Auburndale keeps pace with Stratford on top of the Marawood South standings at 4-0 and improve to 5-0 overall. Newman falls to 1-4 and 1-2 in the conference.
Auburndale used a 12-1 advantage in the first quarter to take a commanding lead. The Apaches pushed the lead to 31-8 by halftime and 48-14 after three quarters.
Markus Kleifgen added eight points and eight rebounds for Auburndale.
The Apaches will be back in action Thursday at Pittsville.
