Marshfield boys hockey scores three third-period goals, blanks Altoona

MARSHFIELD – Mac Alboreo saved all 18 shots he faced and Marshfield scored three times in the third period to beat Altoona 3-0 during the second day of the Andrew Thiel Memorial Tournament on Wednesday at Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center.

Schuyler Seyfert broke the scoreless tie 1:04 into the third period with an unassisted, short-handed goal for the Tigers.

Zach Leggon scored 3:25 later and Bobby Leggon added a goal with 1:06 remaining to lift Marshfield (5-5) to the victory and end its four-game losing streak.

Alboreo had eight saves in the third period to preserve the shutout and tied the all-time single-season and career records for shutouts by a Tigers goalie. The sophomore has three shutouts this season and four in his two-year career.

Marshfield hosts Regis/McDonell in the final game of the tournament on Thursday at 3 p.m.
