EAU CLAIRE – Elliot Ashbeck scored 21 points and Luke Zuiker added 17 to lead the Marshfield boys basketball team to a 62-51 win over Eau Claire Memorial in a Big Rivers/Wisconsin Valley Challenge game Wednesday afternoon at Eau Claire North High School.
Marshfield jumped ahead 16-6 after the first quarter and used a 17-13 third quarter to regain a double-digit lead heading into the fourth. The Tigers (4-2) outscored Memorial (2-7) 17-16 in fourth to earn their second straight win.
Marshfield made 21 of 26 free throws, including 15 of 18 in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.
Malek Lemke scored 17 points to lead the Old Abes.
Marshfield plays Chippewa Falls in the second game of the tournament on Thursday at 4:15 p.m. at North.
