MARSHFIELD – Marshfield goalie Mac Alboreo broke a 75-year-old school record on Thursday by notching his fourth shutout of the season and fifth of his career as the Tigers beat Eau Claire Regis/Chippewa Falls McDonell/Bloomer 1-0 during the final day of the Andrew Thiel Memorial Tournament at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center.

Alboreo had 14 saves for the Tigers to earn his second shutout in as many days. The sophomore broke the single-season record for shutouts that was shared by Ray LaPointe (1936-37) and Jake Strachan (2001-02), and LaPointe’s career mark set from 1935-37.

Zach Leggon scored on an assist from Cole Irish at the 14:10 mark of the first period and Alboreo made the 1-0 lead hold the rest of the way as the Tigers improve to 6-5 and finish the three-day tournament 2-1.

Marshfield returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action looking for its first conference win of the season next Tuesday at Wausau West.
