Marshfield boys hockey scores late to edge Wausau East for first WVC win

WAUSAU – Zac Alboreo scored with 2:01 left on a power play to lift the Marshfield boys hockey team to its first Wisconsin Valley Conference win of the season – a 2-1 victory over Wausau East on Friday night at Marathon Park.

Mac Alboreo saved 25 shots for the Tigers, who improve to 7-6 and 1-4 in the Valley. East falls to 7-4-1 and 2-3-1 in the conference.

After a scoreless first period, Schuyler Seyfert scored on assists from Bobby Leggon and Austin Littmann at the 8:54 mark of the second period to give Marshfield a 1-0 lead.

East tied it 1:54 into the third period on a goal by Jared Wurster. Mac Alboreo held the Lumberjacks out of the net the rest of the way until his brother Zac won the game.

Marshfield hosts Merrill on Tuesday.
