COLBY – Colby outscored Spencer 21-11 in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Rockets for a 54-40 Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball victory Friday night at Colby High School.
Andrew Kaiser scored 14 points and Aaron Koerner had 13 points for the Hornets, who improve to 6-1 and 5-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Spencer falls to 4-5 and 3-5 in the conference.
Colby led 33-29 after three quarters before dominating the fourth quarter to earn the win.
The Hornets made 15 of 26 free throws, while Spencer was just 6 of 11 free throws and only 2 of 15 from behind the 3-point line.
Jeremiah Cattanach and Cody Esser each had nine points to lead Spencer.
The Rockets host Chequamegon for a nonconference game on Tuesday.
Colby hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Monday. Columbus is unbeaten in the conference.
