Taylor Varsho scores 25 points in Marshfield girls basketball victory over D.C. Everest

WESTON – The Marshfield girls basketball team snapped its two-game losing streak with a 53-41 win over D.C. Everest on Friday night at D.C. Everest High School.

Senior guard Taylor Varsho had her strongest game of the season, scoring 25 points in the Tigers’ win. Varsho made 10 of 14 shots from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range, and added four rebounds for Marshfield, who improves to 5-3 overall and remains unbeaten at 3-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Varsho now has 1,026 points in her career at Marshfield, moving ahead of Liz Buttke (1,004 points from 2001-05) for second place on the school’s all-time scoring list. Varsho stands 215 points away from breaking Carlin McClary’s school record of 1,240 points set from 1975-78.

Ellie Fehrenbach added nine points and eight rebounds and Caitlin Michaelis and Tiffany Stargardt each chipped in eight points for Marshfield.

The Tigers trailed by one-point at halftime before rallying in the second half.

Marshfield hosts Tomah on Tuesday and Wausau East on Friday.
