Nicole Karl hits for hat trick in Marshfield girls hockey team’s rout of Lakeland

MARSHFIELD – Nicole Karl had a natural hat trick, scoring three goals in the first period, to lead the Marshfield girls hockey team to a dominating 7-1 win over Lakeland in a Great Northern Conference game Monday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center.

Charlotte Tierney, Paige Johnson, Tori Esser and Emily Wolfe added goals for the Tigers, who improve to 5-5 and 3-2 in the GNC. Lakeland falls to 0-10 and 0-6 in conference.

Marshfield pounded Lakeland goalie Megan Hudy with 61 shots, while Tigers’ goalie Alexis Straughan only had to make six saves.

Marshfield plays at Medford on Friday.
