SPENCER – Sam Cattanach scored 16 points and Steven Gilboy had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Spencer boys basketball team to a narrow 51-49 nonconference win over Chequamegon on Tuesday night at Spencer High School.
The Rockets overcame a 13-8 deficit at the end of the first quarter and ended their three-game losing streak. Spencer improves to 5-5, while Chequamegon falls to 4-5.
Spencer outscored Chequamegon 27-19 in the second half.
Kevin Jean led the Screaming Eagles with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Joe Meyers added 10 points for Spencer, which plays at Neillsville on Thursday.
