Auburndale girls basketball surges past Pittsville

AUBURNDALE – Nicole Nikolay scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds as Auburndale pulled past Pittsville 46-36 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale led 16-15 at halftime, then pulled away in the second half by outscoring the Panthers by nine.

Sam Karl added 11 points and Becky Willfahrt had 10 for the Apaches (6-3, 3-2 Marawood South).

Rachael Ewer tallied 12 points for Pittsville, which falls to 4-8 and 1-4 in the conference.

Auburndale is back in action Friday at Marathon.
