Marshfield graduate Ethan Finlay picked 10th in MLS Draft by Columbus Crew

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ethan Finlay, a 2008 graduate of Marshfield High School, was drafted with the 10th pick of the first round by the Columbus Crew in Thursday’s Major League Soccer SuperDraft in Kansas City.

Finlay, Marshfield’s all-time leader in goals with 98, was a two-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America first team All-America pick and two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year at Creighton University.

He ranked 12th in the NCAA this year with 34 points and 13th in goals with 14 this season as he helped Creighton to a Soccer Cup Final Four appearance.

Columbus finished the 2011 season with a 13-13-8 record, finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference and earning a wild card spot in the MLS playoffs. Columbus lost its first match to Colorado 1-0.
