MEDFORD – The Marshfield girls hockey team won its third straight conference game by knocking off Medford 2-0 in a Great Northern Conference matchup Friday night.

Nicole Karl and Paige Johnson each scored for the Tigers, who improve to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the GNC. Medford is now 3-6-1 and 2-3-1 in the conference.

Marshfield goalie Alexis Straughan only had to make six saves to earn the shutout as the Tigers dominated throughout.

“Junior Bailey Jozwiak had a really nice game tonight and stepped up when she needed to,” Marshfield coach Nate Sparbel said. “All in all it was a solid team victory and we held it in their zone most of the game. Medford’s goalie did a tremendous job.”

Tori Walsh had 44 saves for Medford.

Marshfield hosts Northland Pines with a share of second place in the conference on the line on Monday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center at 5:30 p.m.
