AUBURNDALE – Liz Breu scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Auburndale girls basketball team to its sixth straight win, a 39-22 nonconference victory over Greenwood on Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.
Auburndale led from the start, jumping out to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter and a 25-16 lead by halftime.
“We were able to use our height advantage all night and overpowered them down low,” Auburndale coach Corey Manlick said.
The Apaches, who have won nine of their 10 games, improves to 13-5 overall. Greenwood falls to 10-7.
Auburndale made 16 of 26 2-point shot attempts, but was 0-for-8 from 3-point range and only 7-for-14 from the free-throw line.
Kayla Leibl and Melissa Hartle each scored eight points for the Apaches. Jordan Ehlers led Greenwood with seven points.
The Apaches return to Marawood Conference South Division action on Thursday at home against first-place Wausau Newman Catholic, the top-ranked team in the state in Division 4 according to the Wissports.net Coaches Poll.
