MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys hockey team won its home finale Tuesday night beating Wausau East 5-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game at the Marshfield Youth Ice and Recreation Center.
The Tigers completed a season sweep of East and improves to 9-10-1 overall and 3-7-1 mark in the WVC, while knocking East to 11-10-1 and 4-7-1 in the conference.
Marshfield scored three goals in the third period to pull away.
Marshfield led 2-1 after two periods on goals by Austin Littmann and Schuyler Seyfert and made it 3-1 when Bobby Leggon scored at the 6:56 mark of the third period.
East got to within a goal as Henry Nuckles scored at the 9:06 mark, but the Tigers put the game away with a pair of late goals.
Leggon scored again at the 11:43 mark and Bo Howard added another score with 6 seconds remaining to provide the final margin.
Howard and Littmann each finished with a goal and three assists, and Leggon had two goals and one assists for Marshfield.
Mac Alboreo had 25 saves in goal for the Tigers.
Marshfield wraps up its regular-season schedule with a game at Merrill on Thursday and another on Friday at Medford. The Tigers open up WIAA regional action on Feb. 16 at Chequamegon/Phillips.
