GREENWOOD – The Spencer boys basketball team avenged a one-point loss to Greenwood earlier this season by beating the Indians 53-51 in another tight Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday night at Greenwood High School.
Spencer overcame a 12-6 deficit at the end of the first quarter with a 22-13 run in second to take a three-point lead at halftime. The game was tight the rest of the way, with Spencer able to pull out the victory.
Sam Cattanach had 14 points and five rebounds, and Jeremiah Cattanach added 13 points for the Rockets, who won their third straight game and improve to 10-8 and 7-8 in the Cloverbelt East. Greenwood falls to 11-7 and 10-5 in the conference.
Jeff Rachu led the Indians with 21 points.
Spencer hosts Loyal on Tuesday.
