ATHENS – Stratford had seven sectional qualifiers and Auburndale three after those 10 placed in the top two at the WIAA Division 3 wrestling regional at Athens High School on Saturday.
Alex Heiden, Phil Sersch, Kellen Bornbach, Derek Dehlinger, Dondrick Tackes, Caleb Bryant and Andrew Murdaugh of Stratford, and Paul Willfahrt, Wyatt Weiler and Robert Wiskerchen of Auburndale move on to the WIAA Division 3 sectional at Auburndale High School on Feb. 18.
Edgar won the team title and will face Shiocton in a Division 3 semifinal at the team sectional Tuesday at Coleman. Crivitz and Coleman will wrestle in the other semifinal, with the winner of the sectional moving on to the WIAA State Team Wrestling Tournament at the UW Fieldhouse in Madison on March 3.
The top three at Auburndale individual sectional qualify for the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison on Feb. 23-25.
Heiden (30-7), Tackes (35-3) and Murdaugh (36-3) won titles for Stratford.
Heiden beat Willfahrt (21-14) of Auburndale 4-2 in the 120-pound championship, Tackes defeated Jacob Riemer of Athens 5-2 to win the 182-pound title and Murdaugh pinned Mitch Fanke of Marathon in 3:27 of the 285-pound championship match.
Sersch (27-10), Bornbach (25-11), Dehlinger (22-10) and Bryant (31-9) all finished second after losing in the championship matches of their respective weights.
Sersch dropped the 126-pound title match to Brandon Manecke of Edgar 11-2; Bornbach was pinned in 2:29 by Matt Nowak of Edgar at 160 pounds; Dehlinger lost the 170-pound championship match to Luke Nowak of Edgar; and Bryant fell 3-2 to Zachary Lemmer of Athens at 220 pounds.
Dehlinger and Bryant survived second-place wrestlebacks to qualify for sectionals.
In addition to Willfahrt, Weiler (21-17) and Wiskerchen (10-9) finished second for Auburndale.
Weiler lost the 132-pound championship to Mike Lemanski of Marathon in 2:32, and Wiskerchen fell 8-0 to Kody Guden of Edgar in the 145-pound title match.
