UW-Marshfield/Wood County women win, men lose vs. UW-Fox Valley

MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County basketball teams split games on Saturday, their final home games of the season.

The UW-Marshfield women’s team defeated UW-Fox Valley 64-58, while the men lost to Cyclones 64-58.

Paige Albrecht scored 29 points, had five steals and dished out four assists, and Bailey Klieforth added 21 points for the Marauders women, who improve to 14-7.

“These ladies are staying strong,” Marshfield coach Rhonda Keding said. “This is when you need it. Playoffs start next Saturday and I couldn’t ask for a better time for these girls to play their best ball. I have a lot of faith in these girls where we should go far. Each individual brings something towards the team. The stats can’t show you that.”

Jake Scheppler led four Marauders men (11-8) in double figures with 18 points. Leo Braun and Jesse Bejcek each scored 11 points and Brandon Herr added 10 for UW-M/WC.

UW-Marshfield/Wood County wraps up their regular season schedules Monday at Western Technical College in La Crosse. The women play at 6 p.m., with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
