WESTON – The Marshfield JV boys basketball team overcame a 13-point deficit in the final five minutes to force overtime but came up short, losing 63-59 at D.C. Everest on Friday.
The Tigers trailed 50-37 before storming back to take a two-point lead after a three-point play by Jeff Allison with 29 seconds to go.
Everest made one of two free throws before Marshfield missed a pair from the free-throw line with 5.9 seconds left.
Marshfield was called for a foul at the buzzer and Everest made one of two free throws to send the game to overtime.
The Evergreens outscored Marshfield (12-7) 8-4 in the extra period.
Allison and Alex Strege each scored 21 points for the Tigers. Allison made 11 of 14 free throws and Strege was 8 of 12 from the field. Strege added seen rebounds.
Marshfield hosts Wausau East on Tuesday.
