Auburndale girls basketball storms back to beat Pittsville

PITTSVILLE – Auburndale outscored Pittsville 23-12 in the fourth quarter to beat the Panthers 43-30 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Thursday night at Pittsville High School.

Auburndale trailed 14-9 after a slow-paced first half before storming back by outscoring Pittsville 34-16 in the second half to snap its three-game losing streak.

The Apaches improve to 12-7 overall and 8-4 in the Marawood South. Pittsville drops to 5-14 and 2-10 in the conference.

Sam Karl scored 14 points and Nicole Nikolay added nine for the Apaches.

Auburndale hosts Marathon on Tuesday and Stratford next Thursday in its final two Marawood South games of the season.
