Spencer boys basketball beats Neillsville in Cloverbelt East finale

NEILLSVILLE – Spencer jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 57-47 win over Neillsville in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Monday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets finish the conference season with a 9-9 record and improve to 12-9 overall. Neillsville falls to 3-18 and 2-16 in the Cloverbelt East.

Sam Cattanach scored 15 points and added eight rebounds to lead Spencer to the victory.

Steven Gilboy added 13 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Rockets.

Spencer will host a Cloverbelt Conference crossover game against Altoona on Thursday. The Rockets open the postseason with a WIAA Division 4 quarterfinal at home against Athens next Tuesday.
