Spencer girls basketball rolls past Chippewa Falls McDonell in Cloverbelt crossover

CHIPPEWA FALLS – Spencer shot a sizzling 53 percent, forced 10 steals and held Chippewa Falls McDonell to 26 percent shooting in a 51-32 rout over the Macks in a third-place Cloverbelt Conference girls basketball crossover Thursday night at McDonell Central High School.

Spencer surged out to a 23-10 lead by halftime and maintain its advantage throughout the second half to win for the third time in its last four games and finish the regular season with a 16-6 record. McDonell also finishes 16-6.

Krystal Weier scored 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting and added five assists, and Courtney Schulz and Tara Matter each had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Rockets.

Sarah Schoch had 15 points to score nearly half of McDonell’s points.

Spencer opens the WIAA playoffs on Tuesday at home against Cadott in a Division 4 regional quarterfinal.
