Stratford girls basketball rolls to WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal win over Tri-County

STRATFORD – Hannah Schmitt was the go-to player for the Stratford girls basketball team on Tuesday night.

Schmitt made 10 of 17 shots from the field to score a game-high 20 points and lifted the Tigers to a 70-34 victory over Tri-County in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal at Stratford High School.

Sara Griesbach added 14 points and Carrie Stroetz had seven points and eight rebounds for Stratford (13-10).

The Tigers move on to a Division 4 regional semifinal at Auburndale (15-7) on Friday night.

Stratford dominated from the start, leading 16-8 after the first quarter and 32-15 by halftime. The Tigers cemented their victory with a 23-point third quarter on their way to a season-high 70 points.

All nine Stratford players scored in the win.
