MADISON – The WIAA State Girls Basketball Tournament wrapped up Saturday with five championship games at the Kohl Center in Madison.

De Pere captured its third state title edging Milwaukee King 60-57 in the Division 1 championship game. The Redbirds survived a 3-point attempt in the final seconds by King to win the title to go along with others in 1983 and 2005.

New London repeated as Division 2 champions and completed a perfect 28-0 season with a 43-39 victory over New Berlin Eisenhower, which also came into the championship game undefeated.

Kewaunee topped Oostburg 50-41 in the Division 3 title game. Kewaunee had never made the state tournament before last year, when it lost in the championship game to Altoona. Oostburg was making its sixth straight trip to state.

Neillsville also completed an unbeaten season, finishing 28-0 after a 52-42 win over Oshkosh Lourdes in the Division 4 championship. The Warriors, who did not win a game in their first two state tournaments in 2006 and 2007, captured their first state title. Lourdes was making its first state appearance.

Milwaukee Heritage Christian, also making its first state appearance, throttled Owen-Withee 79-51 to win the Division 5 state title. O-W, making its eighth trip to state and first since 2005, has yet to win a state championship.
